GMP+ (Good Manufacturing Practice) is a system designed for producers of fodder and its ingredients as well as for transport and trading companies, which implementation is confirmed by a certificate.
The GMP+ system was established in 1992 as a reaction of the Dutch market to the contamination of feed materials. Managed by GMP+ International, the national system initially took on an international scale. Currently, there are two modules:
The implementation of the GMP+ system in the organization leads to enhance the feed safety, which is part of the food chain and prevents the emergence of nutritional risks. The implementation process ends with receiving the GMP+ certificate, which contributes to building a positive image of the company, helps to create responsible business and explore new markets, and thus also increase the financial benefits for the company. In many countries the demonstration of feed safety is already treated as a license to sell.
Independent certifying bodies, designated by GMP+ International, audit the organization subject to certification. They determine whether the established procedures and requirements have been implemented correctly, take samples for laboratory analysis, and then make an objective assessment of the collected materials. They ensure the compliance of production processes with the provisions of Good Manufacturing Practice, while serving knowledge and helping to eliminate non-conformities. GMP+ International provides participants with practical information in the form of guidelines, databases and newsletters, and allows them to broaden their knowledge by participating in organized seminars.
