Groundwater

Groundwater analysis together with ground analysis are integral part of the environmental state estimation. Soil contamination leads to groundwater pollution, so it is worth investigating both matrices to assess the real damage to the environment.

WESSLING analyses groundwater and so makes a contribution to high drinking water quality.

Groundwater is exposed to anthropogenic pollution which can infiltrate through the ground as a result of conducted industrial activity or together with leachate from landfill waste.

The large resources and good quality of groundwater make it an important source of drinking water supply and its high exposure to contamination requires permanent control. Therefore, a homogeneous system for checking and comparing water quality is necessary.

Regulations for groundwater quality checking

This two regulations contains basic guidelines for groundwater quality checking:

Rozporządzenie Ministra Gospodarki Morskiej i Żeglugi Śródlądowej w sprawie form i sposobu prowadzenia monitoringu jednolitych części wód powierzchniowych i jednolitych części wód podziemnych

It informs about the types of monitoring and their purposes, the criteria for selecting water bodies for monitoring, the way of choosing control points for measurements, the scope and frequency of monitoring and reference methodologies.

Rozporządzenie Ministra Gospodarki Morskiej i Żeglugi Śródlądowej w sprawie kryteriów i sposobu oceny stanu jednolitych części wód podziemnych

It specifies the methods of classifying the quantitative and chemical state of groundwater and the method of assessing their condition together with the frequency of such assessment.

In our laboratory we are making groundwater analysis according to the regulations above. We are using reference methods or their equivalent, what means that our results are accepted by by the controlling bodies.

Water aggressiveness in relation to concrete and steel

We adapt to the individual needs of our customers. Therefore our offer includes also a test of water aggressiveness in relation to concrete and steel, which indicates the exposure class XA1, XA2 or XA3, providing information about the corrosivity of the water.

This test is mainly prepared for the needs of construction companies. It allows to compose a concrete mix of appropriate quality and to use proper materials, because the durability of the structure will depend on it.

OUR OFFER

  • Accredited groundwater sampling from piezometers or boreholes,
  • Delivery of appropriate containers for self-sampling by the customer (WESSLING-box)
  • Accredited analysis of general parameters: pH, TOC, PEW, Temperature, Dissolved oxygen
  • Accredited analysis of inorganic and organic elements, such as: metals, anions, cyanides, ammonium ion, bicarbonates, PAHs, BTX, phenol index, pesticides, petroleum hydrocarbons
