Water analysis

Water is necessary to live for all organisms. That is why its quality is so important. State of water quality is getting worse and that is a reason why increased control is needed.

Water analysis at WESSLING: consulting, sampling and analysis.

WESSLING Polska as a laboratory with accreditation with a specialization in making complex tests and analysis of environment can offer you the following services:

  • Accredited sampling for laboratory analysis
  • Drinking water analysis
  • Swimming pool water analysis
  • Hot water analysis for Legionella determination

Each of the above-mentioned types of water is subject to separate legal regulations, which define in detail the methods of monitoring and the scope of analysis of the most important physicochemical and microbiological parameters.

When to perform a microbiological water analysis?

There are several guidelines suggesting that microbiological water analysis should be performed. Belong to them:

  • a sudden change in the taste or smell of the liquid
  • the occurrence of skin irritations,
  • loss of original color or transparency (crystal clear to cloudy),
  • rusty stains on sanitary ware or laundry,
  • the appearance of poisoning or chronic health problems with the cause that is difficult to establish.

Clean, drinkable water should be colorless and perfectly clear. Cloudiness or yellowing may indicate the presence of hazardous chemicals from the wastewater, soil, bloom or colloids. The owners of dug or deep wells should pay particular attention to microbiological analysis. In this case, monitoring should be carried out immediately after taking the shot, and then at least once a year.

Why is it worth doing microbiological analysis of water?

The most important benefit of microbiological water analysis is the prevention of adverse health effects caused by harmful pathogenic microorganisms. For example, inhaling an aerosol of water droplets contaminated with Legionella bacteria or choking on it can lead to legionellosis - a disease characterized by coughing, fever and respiratory disorders. Equally dangerous are the effects of the ingress of another common bacterial strain - Escherichia coli. In this case, you can expect digestive system disorders - vomiting, acute diarrhea, cramping abdominal pain.

Performing a microbiological analysis is particularly important for the owners of gastronomic establishments. Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of April 26, 2004, such facilities are required to provide water that meets the accepted standards. Its quality is regularly (usually once a year) controlled by the local branch of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Inspection.
